Due to a scheduling conflict the second week of Session 4 Learn to Skate (March 10) has been reschedule to March 18 at 9:45am - 10:45am.

We have also postponed the start of Artistry in Motion for Session 4 more information to follow and have cancelled Learn to Skate for Hockey for Session 4.

  • Students are grouped by level and ability.
  • Snowplow Sam & Basic include a 20 minute lesson, the remainder of the time is available for a supervised practice time.
  • Testing is on the last day of each session.
  • USFSA enrollment is included.
  • 10% discount for families with 3 or more members enrolled in each session. This is not to be used with any other discounts.
  • Registrations must be received at least one week prior to the start of the session.
  • No registrations will be accepted on the first day of classes.
  • During the Fall/Winter session parents are NOT allowed on the ice.
No refunds.  No makeup classes. We must have a total of at least 15 skaters enrolled to hold each session.  All classes are subject to cancellation depending on number of registrations.


Evie Gaffney began her Professional skating career at the age of 16. She skated with her father "Ben Dova" doing a comedy act. The act performed in shows in Europe and the United States. Her performing career culminated in a three year USA tour with Shipstead and Johnson's "Ice Follies",as a precision and comedy skater. The last 22 years have been devoted to teaching skating at Thomas Creek Ice Arena. The past 10 years she has been Head Pro of the "Learn-to-Skate" program. She is a certified professional skating teacher with USFSA and PSA.

Beth Avery Rothberg has been coaching at Thomas Creek Ice Arena for fourteen years. She is a USFSA International Dancer and has passed Intermediate Freestyle and the 2nd Figure. Beth is the founder of the Oswego State Figure Skating Club. For over ten years, she has coached the Mirror Images Synchronized Skating Team. Also, Beth holds a Masters of Elementary Education. She is a member of the USFSA and is rated by the Professional Skaters Association.

Leanne Martin has over 15 years of coaching experience and has trained under Olympic, World, and National Figure Skating Coaches.  She is a US Figure Skating International Dancer and has testing and competitive experience in freestyle, dance, freedance and pairs.  Her coaching specialties include dance, moves-in-the-field, freestyle, choreography and basic skills.  Leanne graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology.  While at RIT she played defense for the Women’s Ice Hockey team.  She is a member of US Figure Skating Association (USFSA) and the Professional Skaters Association (PSA).
